People who saw the movie can use this to their advantage when playing. When vying for leadership positions, it doesn’t matter which side newcomers identify as good or evil. However, this distinction is necessary when distinguishing between the two sides to display leadership skills. Throughout the story, there are multiple points where one choice can further ally or villainous actions. By looking at the movie, viewers can instantly recognize both sides of the story. This leads to players forming alliances or engaging in combat with separate factions. To win a war, you must defeat the opposing side and capture additional territories. After that, you need to focus on expanding your faction's territory. Faster expansion leads to a higher likelihood of becoming the leader of the alliance and eventually taking control of the One Ring.

You start the game by choosing generals and territories. Each general has a unique ability and path of development, allowing you to choose whether to be the leader of Elves, dwarves, Hobbits or Orcs.
