Mizrabels henchmen often plant poisonous mushrooms, steel knights and toy soldiers on Mickey's journey. If a character accidentally touches one of these obstacles, they'll receive damage and have to restart the level.

In Castle of Illusion, characters don't fight with weapons. Instead, they jump to defeat enemies. This mechanic is similar to the Super Mario Bros series of Nintendo. The game is rated age three or older due to the head-to-head jumping and head control feature of the game. There are no battle scenes or violence; instead, there's no gore or violence in the game. Despite this, the difficulty increased. Some stages require you to fight two steel knights in unison while on your own. Incorrect jumps result in defeat.
